‘WSR’ Says New Republican Report Proves They Will Never Defund PP

The latest Wednesday STOPP Report takes a look at the new Government Accountability Office report, which states that over the last three years, Planned Parenthood has raked in $2 billion in taxpayer funding. Read the full report from STOPP director Ed Martin, below.

We have some news that is really just the same old story.

This week, Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee released a Government Accountability Office report that catalogs that nearly $2 billion of taxpayer dollars has been given to Planned Parenthood over a three-year period. Wow! That’s a lot, and that’s not good.

But it’s also not news. We at STOPP applaud this report, but we must point out: We told you so!

Let us give credit where credit is due: Some new details emerged from this government report that are helpful to know. For example, nearly $90 million of COVID pandemic money (PPP) went to Planned Parenthood. The report describes the reality that Planned Parenthood continues to be funded by bipartisan funding packages. For all their talk, Republicans have not defunded Planned Parenthood. We encourage Congress to continue to push for more transparency in all funding and to be clear that they are voting for abortion funding.

Many legislators explain votes to fund abortion killing in these massive spending packages with this excuse: “Planned Parenthood does more than just abortion.” They usually list education, counseling, and “health services” in this category. But this is a lie, as all of this spending is aimed at persuading women to abort and to undermine the fight for life.

In addition, Planned Parenthood has moved into the “contraception” racket claiming that women deserve contraception and that government should pay for it. While this is a HUGE moneymaker for Planned Parenthood, it is also part of why Planned Parenthood tries to call abortion drugs “emergency contraception.”

So, to be clear, we see that our federal legislators—in BOTH PARTIES—massively fund Planned Parenthood. Will this flow of money ever stop?

Now comes an article in the left-leaning website Politico, which tells us that three Republican feminist, political lobbyists have announced their plan to convince Republicans to fund mandatory contraceptives as a way to win more elections.

So, their terrible plan is to try to distract voters from abortion by funding contraception. But they don’t admit that the recipient of the contraception money under Title X will be Planned Parenthood.

The reality is that Planned Parenthood is receiving our tax dollars and using it for abortion. All of the other gamesmanship around funding and uses of funding is the corruption of the modern American government.

STOPP will shine a light on all spending and hold all the elected officials accountable.

ALL’s Charity Watchlist Encourages Donors to Be Judicious with Their Donations

American Life League’s Charity Watchlist continues to receive massive attention both from the media and from donors looking to give.

The Watchlist was the subject of several other articles, including in Daily Citizen, the media outlet for Focus on the Family, and on MRCTV and Newsbusters.

ALL’s Susan Ciancio penned an op-ed on the Watchlist that was published by American Thinker.

ALL staff have continued to receive numerous calls and emails from supporters requesting information on new charities. If a charity you are interested in is not already listed on the Charity Watchlist, please contact our office.

Pro-Life Education

Culture of Life Studies Program

In October, we released our newest lesson—a one-day lesson for high school students on Blessed Carlo Acutis. Carlo was a young Italian boy who died at the age of 15 after a short illness, but not before he left a lasting impact on his community and the world around him. Carlo loved Jesus in the Eucharist, and he created a catalog of the Church-approved Eucharistic miracles. This has become an exhibition that now travels around the world.

Carlo once said, “The Eucharist is my highway to heaven,” and we know that it’s the source and summit of our faith. At every Mass, Jesus comes to us in the Eucharist.

So as we approach Christmas—that joyful time of year where Christ came to us as a young baby—let us also remember that He comes to us every day of the year in Mass.

Read our blog post about Blessed Carlo. It was featured in Today’s Catholic Homeschooling.

ALL’s Education Materials

ALL has two awesome resources for young people as they begin dating and thinking about marriage. Chastity is something often overlooked or scoffed at in our society. Our hookup culture wants kids to enjoy their youth and do what makes them happy in the moment. But this attitude is unhealthy when it comes to relationships. To combat this mentality, we created two pamphlets to encourage young people to think about what a holy marriage should look like.

A Letter to My Future Husband is a warm, personal letter from a young woman to her potential future spouse that will encourage and inspire young people to remain chaste.

Families Share Stories of Their Disabled Preborn Children

A 31-year-old Texas mother battled the state for the right to kill her preborn child. Doctors told Kate Cox that her baby suffers from Trisomy 18, a chromosomal defect that has a 10% survival rate for those who live long enough to be born. But Cox doesn’t want her baby to suffer. She wants her baby dead in the state that has severely restricted the practice of killing preborn children. According to her doctors, unless she kills the baby, her history of two cesareans will put her own life at risk should the baby die before birth.

Cox’s story is tragic in that her baby has little chance of survival. The story has becomes an example of evil now that she has traveled to another state to follow through with the execution. Cox has been misled to believe that murdering a child is justifiable if it saves the life of a parent. She has put her own life ahead of her child’s.

Parents who suffered the same as Cox, but who chose life instead, were invited to share their stories on X:

The rest of the tweet:

. . .  I went into labor very early. He was born at 2 pounds. The doctors were wrong. He didn’t have mental issues, and the hydrocephalus was taken care of with a brain surgery. Today he is a smart little boy. The doctors do not know everything. I am blessed. Abortion was not a consideration.

. . . She had a wonderful life full of love and she profoundly impacted everyone she encountered. Hundreds and hundreds of people attended her funeral. Hundreds and hundreds of people were touched by Josie. Hundreds and hundreds of people loved her. She was the most amazing human being I have ever met and is my daily inspiration. No unborn baby should be discriminated against killed because they don’t fit into society’s narrow-minded view of what is “normal.”

. . . We wondered at how she always responded to her daddy’s voice! We were fully her parents, and it was beautiful. When it was time to tell her goodbye, even the doctors and nurses cried, which was a testament to how precious her little life was. Her loss was brutal, but it was far exceeded by the love and grace God poured out on us in that time.

There are hundreds more stories, too many to post here. Some babies are thriving and some have passed on, but all of them were recognized for their dignity as God’s vulnerable children.
