Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at the Culture of Life Studies Program!
Though this Thanksgiving may look different than past years, and family may be far, we know we still have so much to thank God for.
The beautiful words of 1 Thessalonians 5:18 remind us: “In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you.”
God wants us to be happy, but He never promised that life would be easy. For many of us, this year has been really hard. We have encountered loss of jobs, loss of income, isolation, the added work of teaching kids, and maybe even the loss of a beloved family member. But though some of these events darkened our days, the light of Christ never failed to overcome the darkness. We have had great times too. Maybe our families have grown closer because of the added time we got to spend together. Maybe we made some great memories cooking with our kids. Maybe we had more family game nights or were able to discuss more religion and morality since the kids schooled from home. And maybe we grew closer to God because we were forced to rely on Him. Through everything, we know that God’s goodness and His mercy did prevail, just as He has always promised.
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on our blessings and to express our thankfulness—to God, to our family, and to our friends. But it’s also a time to reflect on our actions and to determine how we can use our blessings to bless others. Building a culture of life starts with each one of us, and it begins with our gratitude.
So, as we sit around the table, gazing upon the turkey or ham, delicious side dishes, and sweet treats, and thank God for the feast, let us also ask God for His guidance as we contemplate how best to share our blessings with others.
We have much to be thankful for, even this year. In everything, give thanks.
And please know that we are truly thankful for each and every one of you.
Have a truly blessed and happy Thanksgiving!
