— South Texas STOPP put pressure on Planned Parenthood in massive education campaign —
— 14 other Planned Parenthood affiliates now have an awful choice to make —
— Jim Sedlak: “Will these affiliates also have the courage to leave the nation’s largest abortion chain? —
WASHINGTON, D.C. (28 December 2010) – In the wake of efforts by South Texas STOPP’s education campaign regarding Planned Parenthood, questions are still left unanswered about the status of 14 major Planned Parenthood affiliates who now have a terrible choice to make.
“When Planned Parenthood in Corpus Christi, Texas announced last week that it will resign from the Federation rather than be forced to do abortions,” said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, “it left larger questions unanswered.”
“What about the other Planned Parenthood affiliates that do not currently commit surgical and/or medical abortions? Will these affiliates also have the courage to leave the nation’s largest abortion chain?
Since the Corpus Christi announcement, American Life League’s STOPP International project has reviewed its data and has identified 14 PP Affiliates that do not currently do surgical and/or medical abortions:
Planned Parenthood of North Florida;
Planned Parenthood of East Central Iowa;
Planned Parenthood of Southeast Iowa;
Planned Parenthood of Kentucky;
Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan;
Planned Parenthood of Southwest Missouri;
Tri-Rivers Planned Parenthood (Missouri);
Planned Parenthood of Greater Northern New Jersey;
Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey;
Planned Parenthood of Southern New Jersey;
Planned Parenthood of South Central New York;
Planned Parenthood of Central Oklahoma;
Planned Parenthood Association of Cameron and Willacy County (Texas);
and Planned Parenthood Association of Hildago County (Texas).
“Today — December 28th — is a good day to ask this question,” said Sedlak. “On this day that Catholics commemorate the slaughter of the Holy Innocents, these 14 affiliates will be forced into slaughtering innocent children at the behest of Planned Parenthood’ national office?”
“It is obvious,” said Sedlak, “that these 14 affiliates have thus far refused to cave in to Planned Parenthood’s behind-the-scenes pressure to begin killing children through surgical and/or medical abortions. We wait to see if they will have the courage to continue their resistance.”
