President George W. Bush has vetoed a bill that would have expanded federal funding for human embryonic stem cell research. This is the type of stem cell research that cannot be done without killing innocent embryonic children.
The Democrats, of course, immediately attacked the president, saying, "This is just one example of how the president puts ideology before science, politicis before the needs of our families…"
While this is typical of the rhetoric that emanates from those who support killing the human embryo for his stem cells, it should be clear to the president that the only way to show forth consistency on this question is to oppose ALL human embryonic stem cell research, whether publicly or privately funded.
As it stands, he favors the private funding but not the public funding and that is ridiculous.
