With over 3,500 photos of young people engaged in pro-life activism uploaded, American Life League announced Wednesday the winners of the “Yo! Where’s the Shirt?” photo scavenger hunt.
The contest was a part of ALL’s National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week, an event to increase awareness of the personhood of the child in the womb and the tragedy of abortion.
Contestants snapped pictures of themselves wearing a pro-life T-shirt in highly visible locations while fulfilling as many of the over-500 tasks as possible to accumulate points. Tasks ranged from chalking pro-life messages on a public sidewalk to finding a Superman-style phone booth.
New this year, contestants were able to upload their photos directly to the NPLTW.com web site via the first-ever iPhone application for pro-life activists.
Competition was fierce, with hundreds of photos uploaded in the last few minutes of the contest. In the final tally though, first place went to Mary Collart. Our winner is a 17-year-old member of the Rock for Life chapter in Covington, Georgia. Mary raked in an impressive 549 points. She won an iPod Touch for her efforts and will be stocked with Rock for Life merchandise to supplement her enthusiastic activism year-round.
Second- and third-place winners, brothers Jacob and Joseph Tamburro, from Moorpark, California, turned in enough pictures to qualify for 480 and 462 points respectively. Jacob will receive an iPod Nano and Joseph, an iPod Shuffle.
“This event confirmed for us more than ever that the youth of this country are pro-life,” said project director Scott Carroll. “And they’re not just pro-life in name only, they are active, passionate and eager to find ways to fight for human rights and personhood.”
