Week in Review – Pro-aborts on rampage; HR 748; DNR changes; Vaccine update
Yesterday, pro-abortion groups (including Planned Parenthood) sued the governor of the state of Texas because he followed the US attorney general’s request and ordered the end of all elective surgery in Texas. His order included abortion, and that’s why the baby killers are upset. Across the country, governors are issuing emergency orders, Some, like Texas, are including abortion facilities in the shutdown order, while others, like Gov. Northam in Virginia, are allowing abortions to continue unabated. You can keep up to date on this ever-changing scene at the following websites:
As we write this on Thursday evening, the Senate has approved the latest H.R. 748, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The act, as it now stands, does not provide any funding for Planned Parenthood and includes the Hyde Amendment, prohibiting the funds to be used for most abortions. The bill is now scheduled to be considered by the House of Representatives at 9:00 AM today (Friday, March 27). House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, has been fighting to get the abortion industry access to the funds in the bill and has been demanding that all Democrat members of the House oppose the bill without that funding. Hopefully, enough Democrats will vote in favor of the bill to let it pass. The president has said he will sign the bill in its current form.
Another pro-life threat is emerging from this Covid-19 crisis. We are receiving several reports that hospitals are considering using the virus threat to implement new procedures for Covid-19 patients. They are proposing to unilaterally place Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders on Covid-19 patients, even over the objections of family and even if it violates the patient’s advanced directives. The devil is clearly at work in this health crisis. Make sure your local hospitals and other health care facilities hear from you. Tell them you do not want this to happen.
This week, some preliminary Covid-19 (coronavirus) vaccine information is becoming available. To understand what is happening, we asked our ALL Associate group—Children of God for Life—who routinely tracks various vaccines what we should know, now, about the outlook for a vaccine. Here is their input:
- The vaccine is at least 12-18 months away. Although that may seem like a long time, if it makes that timeline, it will be a record for the shortest time to develop a vaccine.
- Everyone in the science and secular press has been reporting on the new vaccine by Moderna called mRNA-1273 to treat Covid-19. However, it has been discovered that this potential vaccine used aborted fetal cells. Very alarming in light of the panic across the country already.
- There is an acceptable vaccine being developed by Sanofi Pasteur—and their version does not use any aborted fetal material.
- There is a great deal of misinformation being spread that appears to be an effort to use this crisis for political gain. Charges that Trump’s partial ban on aborted fetal research delayed the vaccine development are totally false. As are claims that researchers need “humanized mice” to test vaccines. This latter claim is clearly untrue because vaccines have been around over 75 years and rigorous safety testing requirements are already in place. It has zero to do with using mice as testing material and everything to do with politics and the pro-abortion mentality. It would not make a bit of difference what type of mouse they use because in clinical trials they test on human beings so results and reactions can be watched carefully.
ALL in the News – Pro-Life Leaders Collectively Call For An End to Abortion
Judie Brown’s recently released statement was featured in an article published by the New American. The article discussed the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) call for abortion access amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
On March 24, Judie Brown was among the signers of a letter sent to Alex Azar, secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The letter sheds light on Planned Parenthood’s attempt to remain open and functioning amid the nation-wide call for an end to elective surgical procedures to stop the spread of COVID-19. This letter was featured in a CNS News article, where the author mentions Judie specifically. A Church Militant article also references Judie’s signature on the letter, and quotes her from a 2008 document.
Judie’s weekly commentaries continue to be featured as a column on Renew America.
Jim Sedlak’s Pro-Life Activism from Creation to Death is a weekly talk-radio program on the Radio Maria USA network. The show can be heard live every Friday at noon (Eastern Time) and is repeated on Saturdays (10 PM).

Action Item of the Week – Tell our governors: Stop elective abortions
As America faces the Coronavirus outbreak, with business, schools and even churches shutting down, America’s abortion facilities continue to operate—sometimes in defiance of state directives.
The abortion industry maintains that women CHOOSE abortions. Therefore, by definition, all abortions are elective abortions.
By continuing to perform elective abortions, the abortion industry is causing further spread of the virus, as well as consuming medical supplies urgently needed to fight this virus outbreak.
To help stop the spread of coronavirus and keep our communities safe, please take the following three steps:
Step One: Call your governor and demand that he/she instruct abortion facilities in your state to shut down:
SAY: “While businesses have been closed, abortion centers remain open in our state, continuing to perform elective surgeries putting ALL our lives at risk of COVID-19. I call on the governor to ACT NOW and close the abortion businesses before the deadly virus spreads further!”
ASK: “Is he/she going to protect us and issue the order to close the abortion businesses just as other businesses, schools, and churches have closed? To keep abortion businesses open is to put our lives at risk.”
Step Two: Call the governor’s office of every state listed in red. These are the states with Republican governors, who are most likely to take action. Use the talking points above.
Step Three: If possible, call the governor’s office of every state listed in blue. These are the states with Democrat governors, who are unlikely to take action, but who still need to hear from us.

Pro-life Social Media – OB/GYN Wants Restrictions Lifted for Medical Abortions During COVID-19
Doctors lose the privilege of being labeled a healthcare provider the moment they advocate for a mother’s right to a dead baby. Dr. Daniel Grossman is one of them.
If this were really about preventing COVID-19 and saving PPE—not about banning abortion—government agencies would encourage the use of telemedicine to provide the abortion pill. Telemedicine can be used safely and effectively to provide the abortion pill. https://t.co/KJ05IRObpt
— Dr. Daniel Grossman (@DrDGrossman) March 25, 2020
Grossman believes that at-home pill abortions are necessary during a time of national quarantine. Current regulations require a visit to an abortion facility before and after taking the two-pill regimen. But, according to Grossman, if a mother can’t get an appointment at a facility, restrictions should be lifted to allow her to acquire her poison pills via telemedicine.
Sanitation workers are already tasked with blockages due to toilet-paper hoarding. Imagine the nightmare pressed upon them from having to clear sewage lines from Grossman’s toilet abortions.
To the contrary, banning abortion makes it more likely that people will self-manage an abortion. While many may use safe and effective medications, some may use unsafe methods. Patients will go to the ER with complications or to know if the method worked. https://t.co/6Ys5V5zDLF
— Dr. Daniel Grossman (@DrDGrossman) March 25, 2020
Quacks like Grossman appeal to “safe-abortion” quackery because dead mothers are better for making policy than living ones. Rather than instructing girls on why do-it-yourself-abortions are a fast-track to the morgue, abortion advocates abandon naïve girls to their own devices. Once abortion has been criminalized through all nine months of pregnancy, pro-life groups will be the only ones educating girls on the grave consequences of self-abortions.
