Pro-life this Week: August 5, 2022

On Wednesday of this week, President Biden signed yet another executive order in an attempt to restore widespread abortion access following the demise of Roe

The executive order encourages the Department of Health and Human Services to direct Medicaid funding to abortion travel for women who live in states where it is restricted.

In furtherance of the policy set forth in section 1 of this order, the Secretary of HHS shall consider actions to advance access to reproductive healthcare services, including, to the extent permitted by Federal law, through Medicaid for patients traveling across State lines for medical care.

The Hyde Amendment still prohibits federal funds to pay for most abortions so, as a loophole, Biden is asking HHS to turn to using tax dollars to fund travel for abortion violence instead.

The Hill reports that on a White House press call, an official stated the EO would require states where abortion is legal to apply for Section 1115 Medicaid waivers to provide services for women crossing state lines for abortions. They were not specific on what costs Medicaid could potentially cover.

In response to the EO, ALL president Judie Brown said: “Joe Biden’s affection for the killing of innocent babies by abortion appears to know no limits.” Brown continued: “What a shame he, an alleged Catholic, did not use his office to pay for expectant mothers to have their babies without a concern for the cost involved. Biden is evil!”

Amid California’s actions to enshrine abortion into the state’s constitution, a coastal town in Orange County, CA, is considering a resolution that would declare the locality a so-called “abortion-free zone.”

San Clemente’s city council is set to review the resolution by mid-August.

Eyewitness News claims they obtained a draft of the resolution, which reportedly condemns abortion in most cases. Even if the resolution is passed, it would most certainly not make them an “abortion-free zone.”

When given the chance to make an exception to murder a child for the “life of the mother” or “health of the mother”, an abortionist, and most certainly Planned Parenthood, will justify any condition because, to put it simply, they falsely consider abortion to be safer than childbirth. And if an abortion is the safer option, then any reason to abort a child would be justified.

The resolution also includes exceptions for rape and incest. Rape and incest are similar in the sense that both are criminal acts. In our system of justice, we punish the criminal; we do not punish the victim, nor do we punish the criminal’s children.

The violent acts of rape and incest will not be undone by killing the child. In fact, undergoing an abortion would only add to the trauma. The circumstances of how the child’s life was created may have been criminal, but the life of the newly created human being is just as valuable as any other person’s life.

Killing the child of a criminal who has committed sexual assault is not the solution; we should punish the criminal, not kill his child.

ALL calls on the San Clemente city council to rewrite this resolution to one that is 100% pro-life.

We encourage this city to bravely stand as a truly “abortion-free zone”!

ALL in the News – CLM Blog Featured in Catholic World Report; Interim STOPP Director Begins Exclusive Interviews

Celebrate Life Magazine editor, Susan Ciancio, writes a blog once a week. The topics can range from helpful tips to current events. This week’s blog was featured as an exclusive by the Catholic World Report

The annual STOPP Planned Parenthood Facilities Report, which reports on the latest data available surrounding the abortion giant, is now available. The report studies a disturbing trend showing Planned Parenthood is moving away from surgical abortions to DIY-at-home abortion pills. Read the full report here.

Rita Diller, interim STOPP director, has begun exclusive press coverage of the report. Interviews will be available next week.

Every Friday, ALL executive vice president Hugh Brown hosts a talk-radio show on the Radio Maria USA network. The show is a continuance of Jim Sedlak’s Pro-Life Activism from Creation to Death and can be heard live every Friday at noon (ET). Each show features an update on what is happening in the pro-life world and frequently guests will appear on the show to provide first-hand updates and experiences.

Twice a week, Judie’s commentaries are distributed to an expansive media list. The list contains over 100 media outlets, such as Fox News, The Federalist, Breitbart, and The Daily Caller, among others. Judie’s commentaries are each featured on the front page of ALL.org. Each commentary is also featured as a part of Judie’s recurring column on Renew America

Traditionally, August is the month dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Just as we honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so we devote ourselves to the interior life of Mary, His mother. At various times throughout history, she has interceded on our behalf and brought about miraculous victories, most especially when we use the Rosary as the weapon. When we launched the Marian Blue Wave nearly three years ago, we listed a few of those victories as encouragement to pro-life advocates who work to bring about the end to the evil of preborn child killing.

ALL’s Marian Blue Wave needs you to spread the word about this powerful program!

The Marian Blue Wave is a call to Catholics across America to pray a weekly Rosary with the specific intentions of ending all surgical, pill, contraceptive and IVF abortion and shutting down every Planned Parenthood facility in the United States.

To join, you can sign up online here.

Pro-life advocates have always been clear on the difference between the unexpected death of a preborn baby and the intentional murder of one. A New York Times opinion piece, authored by a University of Pittsburgh School of Law professor, suggests Americans don’t know any better.

We talk about miscarriage differently for the simple fact that one is unexpected while the other is intentional. Miscarriage is the loss of a baby; abortion violence is the taking of the life of one.

To be fair, the New York Times purposefully ignored the Holocaust, so, there is that.

Excellent point!

From the Grey Lady, we go to the White House, where the press secretary calls the Supreme Court’s decision to gut Roe“unconstitutional.”

What she’s saying is that it was unconstitutional for the Supreme Court to decide a previous decision was unconstitutional. Does that mean the White House is suing the Supreme Court? You can’t make up this stuff.

Joe Biden does not like it. Therefore, it is unconstitutional.

That pretty much sums up how this executive branch of our government works.
