Chick-Fil-A Uproar Shows Americans Tired of Culture War Bullies

Washington, D.C. – Chick-fil-A CEO, Dan Cathy, made a simple statement to a Christian newspaper that he still supports biblical families and traditional values. A national political debate and media event has erupted. Paul E. Rondeau, executive director of American Life League, issued the following statement:

Dan Cathy has repeatedly distinguished himself as a Christian business owner. His commitment to orthodox Christianity is validated in the company’s purpose to “glorify God.” A tiny but powerful minority now wants to silence anyone who dares exercise their free speech rights by speaking biblical truth in public.

Mr. Cathy’s simple exercise of constitutionally protected free speech and religious liberty has the mayors of Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. acting like political thugs, using their elected office to threaten Chick-fil-A business in their cities. The massive outpouring of support on “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” shows that Americans are growing tired of these bullies, their hatred of God, and their disdain for those who choose God over the state.

Perhaps such intolerant bigots worry that one courageous individual like Mr. Cathy might inspire others to also stand up and speak out, thus shattering the public relations myth that “everyone” thinks same-sex marriage is enlightened and inevitable. The fact is that Mr. Cathy only said what polls show – the large majority of Americans have always and continue to believe this biblical truth: marriage is one man and one woman.

Like most citizens’ organizations, American Life League applauds Mr. Cathy and proudly stands with him.
