ALL Applauds Passing of House Joint Resolution 43

First step taken to allow states to defund Planned Parenthood

Washington, DC — Today, the full House passed a joint resolution (H.J. Res. 43) that nullifies the Obama regulation and gives power back to the individual states. The joint resolution does not prohibit Title X money from going to Planned Parenthood, but does allow the states to, once again, make the decision on whether or not Planned Parenthood receives any of the money in their state.

“The House of Representatives has taken the first step forward in undoing the damage caused by President Obama and his unfettered love affair with Planned Parenthood,” said Jim Sedlak, executive director of American Life League. “Just days before Obama left office, he announced a new regulation which prohibited state officials from deciding how Title X money is distributed in their state – a right states have had since the original implementation of Title X in 1970.”

The purpose of the regulation was to ensure Planned Parenthood would receive Title X money in every state.

“American Life League congratulates the House and looks forward to a vote on H.J. Res. 43 in the Senate. We are heartened by the swift action of the House to undo the Obama gift to Planned Parenthood and look forward to the day when all taxpayer money is taken away from the nation’s largest abortion chain,” Sedlak concluded.
