Catholic Healthcare West Dossier To Be Released Monday
— American Life League to release dossier on Catholic Healthcare West on Monday —
— Questions regarding fidelity to Catholic teaching continue to mount —
— ALL asks six questions of Catholic Healthcare West before Bishop Olmsted’s deadline —
WASHINGTON, D.C. (17 December 2010) – American Life League is prepared to release a dossier on the activities of Catholic Healthcare West on Monday, outlining some serious violations of Catholic social teaching as well as a disturbing pattern of infidelity towards its Catholic identity.
Catholic Healthcare West is a clear example of the difference between obedience and fidelity within the Catholic faith.
While obedience suggests CHW continue to contort itself until it fulfills some lowest common denominator, fidelity to the spirit of Catholic social teaching – including a defense of human beings – includes a faith that is lived, and not merely addressed as a marketing ploy.
To that end, American Life League has a few questions for Catholic Healthcare West:
- Have any CHW affiliated hospitals provided contraceptives, sterilizations, or other proscribed so-called reproductive health services?
- Have any CHW hospitals provided contraceptives which can possibly interrupt the implantation of human beings in their embryonic state (abortifacients)?
- Has CHW, through its community grants program, provided funding to any organization that promotes activities or lifestyles that are opposed to Catholic teaching?
- Has CHW given its support to any public policy or legislation which would provide funding for abortion?
- Did CHW support the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act despite the admonishment of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops not to support the bill on the grounds that it provided taxpayer funding for abortion?
- Most importantly, will CHW comply with Bishop Olmsted’s requests?
American Life League and thousands of Catholics concerned about what is being done in the name of a faith committed to the defense and protection of human beings in all stages are very eager to hear that Catholic Healthcare West is taking Bishop Olmsted’s requests for fidelity to heart.
American Life League plans to release its findings on the activities and financial arrangements of Catholic Healthcare West on Monday, December 20th at 2pm Eastern.
