St. Michael the Archangel High School Carries ‘Personhood Now!’ Banner

  • ARCHIVE

On January 24, 2011, a group of over 60 students and staff members from Saint Michael the Archangel High School (SMHS) in historic Fredericksburg, Virginia, helped American Life League carry out its mission by proudly carrying ALL’s 20-inch wide ‘Personhood Now!’ banner in the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. (a project of the March for Life Education & Defense Fund).

As we prepared for the march, we soon realized that we didn’t have enough volunteers to carry our banner and help us distribute our signs. Our thoughts then gravitated naturally toward the student body of SMHS, since we’re working closely with its faculty to perfect its Culture of Life Curriculum. So, when we contacted SMHS secondmaster Roy Delaney to request student volunteers, his response was an immediate and resounding yes. The banner was soon delivered to the school, and the students got busy attaching as many prayer intention cards from
ALL donors as possible. In addition to carrying the ‘Personhood Now!’ banner in the march, SMHS assisted us with sign, button and sticker distribution. Eight students braved very cold temperatures to arrive early that morning for that task—and did so for over six hours straight! The SMHS student body is truly exemplary and one from which other youth groups could gain inspiration!

We offer our heartfelt thanks to SMHS staff and faculty members Roy Delaney, Bill Lippe, Kyle Spencer, Ed Syzmkowiak and Regina Hiney, as well as all of the students, friends and family members who put forth the extra effort for this year’s March for Life!
