Week in Review – Trial update; MBW update
The civil jury trial, in San Francisco, of the founders of the Center for Medical Progress and its undercover journalists who documented Planned Parenthood’s baby body parts business is expected to wrap up next week.
Things are looking bleak. This week, we received communications from law firms that represent two of the defendants. Both expressed frustration. Harry Mihet of Liberty Counsel (who are handling Sandra Merritt’s defense in this case) wrote: Despite some limited victories last week in presenting some key evidence to the jury, the defense team remains seriously shackled in defending Sandra Merritt and her colleagues against Planned Parenthood’s revenge “baby parts” lawsuit in San Francisco. The first major handicap we have is the inability to play for the jury the actual videos over which Sandra and her colleagues are being sued . . . A SECOND major handicap imposed on the defense . . . is that we are forbidden from showing the jury the EXTENSIVE evidence that David, Sandra and their colleagues obtained BEFORE the recordings took place about Planned Parenthood’s atrocious crimes in selling baby parts for profit . . . Our hands are tied, and the deck is stacked.
Tom Brejcha of the Thomas More Center (who is representing David Daleiden), wrote: Judge Orrick will not allow David’s defense to introduce a large portion of our evidence. Barred from the civil jury trial are our expert witnesses who did testify at the criminal preliminary hearing last September in San Francisco’s felony court, proving that body parts are regularly harvested from babies born alive – whose hearts are still beating! Nor have our civil jurors been allowed to hear how David’s videos led to major Congressional investigations of body parts trafficking and multiple referrals to the Justice Department and FBI for criminal investigations that are still ongoing! In other words, this federal judge – who has had some very public ties to Planned Parenthood – is handicapping David’s defense. (Emphasis in original)
Please continue to pray for all involved in the court cases that have emerged since pro-lifers documented conclusive evidence that Planned Parenthood has been involved in the gruesome and illegal business of selling baby body parts from dead, and living, victims of abortion. As you can tell from the above descriptions, prayers are needed.
The Marian Blue Wave received a major endorsement this week. Cardinal Raymond Burke wrote, in part, “Among the evils which afflict society in our time, the destruction of innocent and defenseless human life through procured abortion is certainly among the gravest. For this reason, I encourage Christians to respond generously to the worthy initiative of the American Life League, which has been named the ‘Marian Blue Wave.’”
The cardinal’s full endorsement, along with the endorsements of additional Catholic bishops, can be read here. Election results across the country this week have demonstrated the foolishness in God-fearing people putting their trust in political establishments. Our answer is to put our trust in God through prayer and fasting. Mary, the Mother of God, gave us the Rosary as a powerful weapon. The Marian Blue Wave calls on each of us to use that Rosary, at least once a week, to end abortion.
ALL in the News – Judie’s Commentaries Find New Audience
This week, Judie Brown’s commentary “Demonizing Pregnancy” was reprinted by CNS News. Judie’s weekly commentaries continue to be featured as a column on Renew America. Also this week, her Tuesday commentary, Snaky Catholics, appeared on the site’s front page.
Jim Sedlak’s Pro-Life Activism from Creation to Death is a weekly talk-radio program on the Radio Maria USA network. The show can be heard live every Friday at noon (Eastern Time) and is repeated on Saturdays (10 PM).
Video of the Week – Only a Marian Blue Wave Can End Abortion
We need to employ a larger strategy to overcome the evils of Planned Parenthood and abortion. It’s been 47 years of political fighting. Rather than talking about ending abortion, we’ve been regulating it and its enablers. The Marian Blue Wave is the answer to fighting a spiritual evil.
Judie Brown, president of American Life League, explains the inspiration and the direction of the Marian Blue Wave in this excerpt from the Marian Blue Wave webcast.
Action Item of the Week – The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month was the time, in 1918, when all combatants in World War I stopped shooting. An armistice was signed earlier that morning and it was at 11 AM in Europe that all guns fell silent.
The war was formally ended by the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919, but there was no fighting after the previous 11th of November. As a result, many countries chose November 11 as the date they would honor all who fought in the war. The commemoration was extended to all wars as other conflicts started and ended in the subsequent years.
Originally called Armistice Day, the commemoration is now called Veterans Day in the United States and Remembrance Day in many other countries.
The difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day (celebrated in May) is that Memorial Day honors service members who died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle. Deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day but the day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military—in wartime or peacetime.
We ask all our readers to take time this Monday, November 11, to thank all the veterans of all branches of the armed services for their service to our country. It could be done with a public gathering, getting the family together, or just one-on-one with a relative or someone you pass on the street who is wearing a military uniform or is clearly a veteran. It would be particularly appropriate if you would say a prayer at 11 AM on Monday for all living veterans—that they may know they will always have the gratitude of the nation they served.
Pro-life Social Media – Abortionist’s Birthday Photo Reveals How Ghoulish He Really Is
It’s hard to stomach the fact that abortionists celebrate their birthdays when their entire business is about preventing them for others. In the case of professional baby-stabber LeRoy Carhart, he feels extra stabby on his.
This is abortionist, Leroy Carhart. He has killed many babies in his lifetime, including those in the 3rd trimester. His staff had a party for his birthday. Look at the sign beside the cake. “Even on my worst days, I’M KILLING IT.” Eternity will be very hot unless he finds Jesus. pic.twitter.com/R5SUBUt37r— Abby Johnson (@AbbyJohnson) November 3, 2019
“Even on my worst days I’m killing it.”
If ever his staff is horrified to tears by the body count, Carhart has a mug for that. How did pro-life advocates react on Twitter? Like Christians.
That sad. I continue to pray for these people.— Phyllis Gibson (@NursGibson49) November 3, 2019
This blows my mind and hurts my heart. I will be praying for him tonight. He needs lots of prayers his way.— Alexandra Hutterer (@AlexHutterer) November 3, 2019
He’s a tough guy to pray for— Against The Voices (@voices365) November 3, 2019
His could be the next amazing story of a change of heart and change of sides. Like Bernard Nathanson, founder of NARAL, who later narrated “The Silent Scream.” I pray he has a heart revelation that he is not killing “its;” he is killing babies.— Readerella Ⓥ (@readerella4) November 3, 2019
This makes me feel like vomiting. Praying for him and others that feel this is okay— alison boehmer (@alis_Nwondrland) November 3, 2019
May God have mercy on his soul.— Kevin Stephenson (@KevinSt48832692) November 3, 2019
Yep right here where I live in Bellevue NE is where his clinic is and right across the street is St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Anytime I have to drive down Mission Ave past that horrid place I just about always see people praying in the clinic parking lot from the church.— Rhonda Harris (@rhondaharris96) November 3, 2019
He is under the wrath of God, it’s doubtful. As horrific as an eternity in hell is, this is one man who has more than rejected truth, the day of his demise will be filled with the realization of that foolhardiness.— David (@realDWVS) November 3, 2019
This makes my stomach turn…so sick! Evil does exist in this world. We must pray for him to have a change of heart. 🙏🏻😢🙏🏻— Christie Hebert Domingue (@ChristieDoming6) November 3, 2019
We need to pray for this man’s conversion and not stop until he does.— St. Thomas Aquinas Respect Life (@STA_RespectLife) November 3, 2019
Offer a prayer for the conversion of LeRoy Carhart. And if you’ve got more time, offer a Rosary.
