As you may know, the IRS mandates that, depending upon your age, in most cases you must make a Required Minimum Distribution of your traditional IRA retirement savings every year. In some instances this also applies to certain 401(K) plans as well. This distribution can be made at any time throughout the year. If you or your spouse must make an RMD, and you don’t need those funds for day-to-day living expenses, and you do not like having the RMD push you into a higher tax bracket or cause you to pay the additional taxes due on the RMD, you can choose to use all or part of that money to help save babies from abortion and protect the right to life for the elderly and infirm. It’s a great way to save on taxes and help save lives.

Just inform your IRA administrator to transfer all or a portion of your RMD funds from one or more of your IRA accounts directly to American Life League, without taking possession of the distribution yourself. The IRS will then allow you to exclude those RMD funds from your regular taxable income, so you pay no federal taxes on it. This is called a “Qualified Charitable Distribution.” If you and your spouse must each make an RMD, then both of you can help American Life League with a QCD and receive the tax benefits from it. Please contact your IRA administrator for any questions on your IRA accounts or your RMD requirements and to obtain their QCD form.

To make your donation from the IRA or 401(K) you will need to know our contact information and EIN/Tax ID number, listed below.

 The Gospel of Life
St. John Paul II

“Even in the midst of difficulties and uncertainties, every person sincerely open to truth and goodness can, by the light of reason and the hidden action of grace, come to recognize in the natural law written in the heart (cf. Romans 2:14-15) the sacred value of human life from its very beginning until its end, and can affirm the right of every human being to have this primary good respected to the highest degree.”
