A Cure for Blindness
By Susan Ciancio
Jesus said to His disciples,
“Blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
If you could give just an hour of your time to help a blind person see, would you do it?
Tomorrow you can.
Tomorrow, you can help open the eyes of people who refuse to see the humanity of a preborn child. You can remove the scales from their eyes and show them just how unique and precious each and every person is—especially the smallest among us who lived only in their mothers’ wombs.
For seven years now, the second Saturday in September has been reserved as the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. The event is cosponsored by Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Priests for Life, and the Pro-Life Action League and is a day to honor the memory of the thousands of tiny human beings who were never given the change to be born.
Throughout the US, there are 52 actual gravesites, with dozens of memorial sites where no gravesite exists. People all over will gather to pray for these lost souls and to pray for an end to abortion.
Prayer is powerful and so necessary. But so is your physical presence. Imagine the impact it has on abortion-minded women when they see gravesite services or crosses buried in memory of tiny babies who have lost their lives. They witness these events and they begin to wonder why. Why are these people standing here? Why are there graves here? Why are these people giving their time to do this? Why would they bother going through this effort for a “blob of tissue”? Why are they so somber?
They may be able to deny a child when he is hidden in a womb, for they can only see him in a sonogram. But they can see a grave. They can see people gathered in prayer. They can see your love. And they can see your pain.
There is no worse blindness than spiritual blindness. Tomorrow, you can help cure this. As sons and daughters of God, it is our duty to open the eyes of those who remain indignant to the humanity of the preborn child.
Just one hour of your time is all it takes to help them see.
