ALL 'Map Room' Protests Cover Planned Parenthoods in 40 of 49 States by Katie Walker Released October 7, 2009
Washington, D.C. (07 October 2009) – A grassroots movement to oust Planned Parenthood from neighborhoods across the country is taking off in American Life League’s 'Map Room' project.
Since American Life League launched the Map Room in 2007, an additional 138 regularly scheduled protests have been started or identified at Planned Parenthoods in 40 of the 49 states where PP operates medical facilities.
“Communities are rising up and saying ‘no’ to Planned Parenthood,” said Marie Hahnenberg, project director of the Map Room. “They don’t want an organization known to prey on vulnerable children and young women in their neighborhoods.”
Currently 264 regularly scheduled protests are identified at 181 Planned Parenthood facilities in 40 states of the United States.
Operator of the nation’s largest abortion chain, Planned Parenthood is being investigated for fraud in several states including Arizona, Tennessee and California. The organization is also under investigation for failing to report statutory rape and child sex abuse in Ohio and Indiana.
“As more and more information surfaces regarding Planned Parenthood, we expect the number of protests to skyrocket,” Hahnenberg said. “People simply won’t stand to have a predatory organization in their backyards.”
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death.
