►Amid Health Care Scandal, Catholic Charities Awarded $100 Million Federal Grant by Obama Administration by Katie Walker Released August 4, 2009
Washington, D.C. (04 August 2009) – Catholic Charities USA was awarded its first ever federal contract to the tune of $100 million after American Life League broke news that the group is actively supporting the Obama administration's vision for health care reform.
The Department of Health and Human Services awarded the contract to Catholic Charities for disaster relief services over a five-year period.
The announcement comes just three days after the organization became embroiled in an ongoing scandal for its campaign in support of the Obama administration's goal of "health care reform now." Current legislation includes tax-subsidized abortion and rationed care for the sick and elderly.
The campaign includes action alerts to supporters as well as a promotional video featuring President Obama rallying Congress to pass his health legislation.
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death.
